The Largest Sporting Event in West Africa
Featuring a marathon, a half-marathon, a 10km race, a hike, and the involvement of 15,000 participants from 72 different nationalities, the Dakar Marathon has established itself as the indispensable sporting event on the African continent. It is also an event synonymous with celebrations, mutual assistance, and solidarity.
For Ladji Doucouré, the patron of this 4th edition, "it is an honor to be the patron of the Eiffage Dakar Marathon to promote sports among young Senegalese. It is important for me to highlight this major event in African sports. The Eiffage Dakar Marathon has nothing to envy from other international marathons!"
The Course
The technical course of the race covered 42.195 km, with over 50 meters of elevation, running along the waterfront and providing a breathtaking view of the ocean. The route also included a passage through iconic sites in the capital, such as the Place du Souvenir, the Mosque of Divinity, and the Monument of the Renaissance.
