In Congo, Eiffage Génie Civil Marine wins the construction of an industrial fishing port and a jetty for small-scale fishing
Our Eiffage Génie Civil Marine teams, in a consortium with Socofran CDE, have won the contract to build the industrial fishing port and the small-scale fishing wharf at the Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire in Congo!
The industrial fishing port comprises 405 m of quays with a draught of -5 m protected by an embankment, and 3.5 ha of associated land, while the jetty for artisanal fishing comprises a 205 m pier made of steel structure and piles.
The construction of this industrial fishing port aims to provide professional shipowners with a quality working environment in order to supply the Congolese population with fish products in a sustainable manner.
The construction of the wharf for artisanal fishing will allow local fishermen to benefit from an adapted infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of the fishery in order to simultaneously unload some twenty "popoh" type pirogues in a secure manner.
As on previous projects in the port of Pointe Noire, Eiffage Génie Civil Marine and its partner Socofran will use state-of-the-art construction methods, effective dialogue with the port community, the development of intelligent partnerships with local suppliers and, of course, the use of local employment and professional training.
The signing ceremony took place on 04 November 2022 at the headquarters of the Port Autonome de Pointe Noire in the presence of Honoré Sayi, Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and Merchant Navy, Séraphin Bhalat, Director General of PAPN, Véronique Wagner, Consul General of France in Pointe Noire, Torben Nilsson, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in Congo, Maurizio Cascioli, Director of AFD in Congo, Edgar Coulomb, Managing Director of Eiffage Génie Civil Marine, Latif Diallo, Commercial Director of Eiffage Génie Civil Marine, David Bourion, Managing Director of Socofran, as well as local authorities and the port community.
We would like to thank the Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire for renewing its confidence in us to carry out this major project.
